Crestone is a small, remote town nestled at the base of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Southern Colorado. Visited by indigenous people for healing and contemplation since ancient times, this "power place" is now home to a variety of spiritual centers and communities from the world's wisdom traditions. Graced with pristine air and crystal blue skies, the area is also a wildlife refuge and natural home to deer, elk, bison, gazelle, fox, mountain lion, bear and eagle. Bordering the high-desert San Luis Valley, Crestone and the Baca Grande land grant are situated on top of the largest underground reservoir in America, creating healing hot springs visited by many generations. The Valley has been held as a sacred place since ancient times by several Native American tribes, including the Hopi and Navajo, who named it the Bloodless Valley.

Crestone is situated next to Mount Blanca, a most sacred mountain to many Native tribes. Located between the Sacred Mountain and the town of Crestone are the Great Sand Dunes, a mysterious and mystical place, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The depth of physical and spiritual gifts this land offers is endless. Crestone is known worldwide as a place of spiritual gathering and enlightenment.

Weather/What to Bring

Temperatures in Crestone in early October will vary widely, from the 60s and 70s during the day to the 30s and 40s at night. The conference will include time both indoors and outdoors as we visit and gather in various spiritual centers in the area. Plan to dress in layers, and consider bringing a blanket and/or favorite cushion for floor seating if you like. You may also like to carry your own water bottle as Crestone has a very dry climate. Most meals are provided with the conference; you may bring additional snacks or purchase them at the two small, local groceries in town.
