Curt’s Crestone General Store, locally known as Curt’s Store, is an integral part of life in the small remote town of Crestone. Curt and Bernadette have owned the store for 20 years. In the early years, they ran the store with one part-time clerk. Over the years, the store has grown and developed into a unique health food center. Shoppers can purchase organic produce and natural foods, along with some locally made or grown goods, fresh all year long. Additionally, gas is available 24 hours a day. Curt and store manager, Jeanne Sullivan, have created a shopping opportunity to accommodate the most meticulous shopper. Janice Gardner, the produce manager, stocks a nice variety of organic produce, including salad greens, root vegetables, kale/chard, sprouts, avocados, and more. There is always plenty of fruit, and often raspberries, strawberries, kiwi, and mangos can be found. In season, there are apples, peaches, salad greens, and other vegetables. Fresh organic produce arrives each Monday and Thursday. Since last summer they have added a large cooler to keep the produce fresher. For the carnivorous appetite, the freezers are always stocked with Scanga |

including organic chocolate, and cake sprinkles. The Davey Honey Farm
in Saguache supplies the store with their local honey, and Curt has a
fine selection of quality spices. There are special areas for the ethnic
palate such as Indian, Asian, Mexican, and Italian. Lovers of environmentally friendly living can find healthy cleaning supplies, recycled and non-chlorinated paper products, and body care items. Curt’s offers items for children and a nice variety of body care products. There is a selection of supplements, tinctures, homeopathics, Bach flower essences, and herbs. Green Earth Farm’s quality tinctures for a variety of purposes are available, along with their popular calendula salves. Local products can always be found in the store, such as books, CD’s, postcards, and chai spices. Health conscious parents can feel okay at the candy section, as all the candies are from natural food distributors. Organic chocolate bars, chewing gum, and Luna Bars are just a few. And to complete your shopping experience, the friendly and helpful clerks, Guy Standing and Monica Standing will check out your purchases. If you can’t find something you’re looking for, Curt special orders twice a week. Just come in and talk to Curt, his wife Bernadette who works in the office, or Jeanne, and place your order. |
