Moffat Consolidated School District

Moffat Consolidated School District offers a variety of educational opportunities for students Pre K–12. The program begins with a 1/2 day preschool and a full day kindergarten. The Core Knowledge curriculum is offered for Pre K–8, with Accelerated Reading, Saxon Math in elementary, computer technology, P.E., art, music, drama, aquaculture, industrial maintenance, Spanish and other world languages, strong math and science programs, and high school humanities and symposiums.

Additionally, all high school students are provided with laptops, advanced computer technology, and online instructional opportunities. Moffat Schools have a very good teacher to pupil ratio. They also provide breakfast and lunch to their students.

The district mission statement on education is that students shall comprehend fully the ideas and values that are important to our diverse community and to their families, and shall use effectively the systems and symbols used to represent those ideas, all within a safe environment and at a cost within the revenue limits of the district.

The Crestone Charter School is also within this district, providing an experiential program including the use of community mentors and technology.

To register your child, call 719.256.4710 or stop by the district/school office at 501 Garfield Ave. in Moffat. The Principal is Michelle Hashbarger, and the Superintendent is Eli Dokson. Reach the Crestone Charter School at 719.256.4907; Reynold Bean, Director.

The Crestone Marketplace
by Scot Swordy

The Crestone market will run every Saturday throughout the summer months, beginning when the weather warms up and running until it gets cold again. The market will be open from around 9am-3pm and is beautifully set in the orchard next to the Shambala Café, located right in the middle of downtown Crestone.

We hope our quaint market will serve as a model for diverse localized trade, including locally grown organic produce, arts and crafts, collective yard sales, and an array of local presentations and performances. By providing a diverse economic outlet, we hope to further develop our efforts toward a fully sustainable community.

We welcome visitors and passing vendors to come, relax and enjoy our market day. It’s a day to hang out and be social, to lounge under the shade of the apple trees, refresh your world, slow your pace and settle into Crestone time. For more information call Rachel or Miten at the Shambala Café at 719.256.4959.
