Ashtanga
Yoga with Annie Pace
|
||||||||||||||||||||
![]() |
Traditional Ashtanga classes are offered by Annie Pace in the Town of Crestone.
Ashtanga yoga is an ancient system of practice, based on breath-synchronized
action linked in traditional sequences. An inner focus is emphasized
using drishti, bandhas, and ujjayi breath. This cultivates inner strength
and stability along with correct form and flexibility.
Annie has studied extensively in India with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Rangaswamy, the living masters of the Ashtanga System. She is one of the most advanced practitioners of this method in the world, yet her teaching skills allow all levels of students the Ashtanga experience. Before settling in Crestone in 1998, Annie taught thousands of students worldwide. Now her focus is on local community classes and hosting small groups for weekend intensives in Crestone. Annie teaches four classes weekly on a donation basis, and weekend retreats by reservation. Beginner level classes are at 8am Wednesdays at Jillian’s studio behind Northern Valley Realty in town. Call 719.256.4660 for schedule of other classes, private instruction, or weekend retreats. Namaste! |

About Kundalini Yoga |
||||||||||||||||||||
Kundalini
Yoga is a technology based on an understanding of the ecology of the
human body. Saints and
sages throughout the ages learned how blood, nerves, muscles, organs,
and glands all work together. Hand positions, breath, posture, sound,
and motion
are employed in various ways to optimally invite balance to the physical,
mental, emotional and spiritual body of the practitioner. Kundalini comes
from the Indian word ‘kundal’ which means, “coil” or “lock
of hair from the beloved”. Kundalini lies relatively dormant at the
base of the spine. Kundalini yoga systematically awakens this “coiled
up” energy resulting in subtle, yet phenomenal, life changing experiences.
Yogi Bhajan brought the pure lineage of Kundalini Yoga from India to
this country in 1969. Since then, his unique yogic form has flourished
nationally
and internationally to heal and uplift thousands of sincere practitioners. About the Instructors: Sue Beck and Dan Retuta are certified Kundalini Yoga instructors and directors of Crestone Healing Arts Center. They both received their training through Yogi Bhajan’s Master’s Touch Teacher Certification Program in Espanola, New Mexico. Sue and Dan have instructed Kundalini yoga as an integral part of Crestone Healing Arts Center’s 12-Week Massage Program since 1999. Sue has taught Kundalini Yoga in various communities throughout Colorado since 1995. |

Hatha
Yoga with JoAnn Connington
|
||||||||||||||||||||
JoAnn Connington offers Hatha Yoga
classes twice weekly in Crestone. She also offers an hour long class for
seniors once a week. Regular classes are scheduled for an hour and a half,
and the focus is on postures and movements that open the energy body, physical
body, and breathing body. JoAnn’s training in Hatha Yoga has been primarily in the Iyengar tradition, so there is practical alignment of the body in a posture. Within the process of creating the pose, holding the pose, and ending the pose, much movement and release are possible. Her approach to teaching the poses invites you to explore the classical, ancient, aligned postures with deep introspection, release and movement from the depths of the energy bodies. There is consistent focus on the breath, to free it and allow it to calm body and mind in the meditation of the pose. Students at all levels are welcome. For more information, call JoAnn Connington at 719.256.5129. |
